FERRUM LAC
This is a special iron ingredient designed for addition to food and beverage products. It is made of Iron lactate which is microencapsulated using wowCAPS microencapsulation technology. This patented technology protects the iron during food processing and also completely masks the undesirable flavour and odour normally associated with iron.
WHY ADD IRON TO FOOD?
Iron is a mineral found in some foods. It is essential for the formation of haemoglobin, the red pigment in blood.
It has three main roles in the body

- Produce energy - Iron is essential for the body's chemical reactions that produce energy from food.

Iron deficiency leads to anaemia, the sympthoms of which include tiredness, breathlessness, headaches and loss of appetite.
Iron deficiency is considered to be one of the most prevalent nutritional problem in developed countries. Some studies suggest that up to 20% of women of child bearing age are anaemic.
